Easy Hair Bun Alternative
I don’t know about you, but I have a lot of hair… and I mean a lot. It gets sweaty and hot in the summertime if it’s on my shoulders and in my face. This means I have been working to find alternatives to the hair bun (mom bun) that are easy to do, easy to maintain, and look good. I have found a great hair bun alternative for people of all hair lengths that uses just a couple of bobby pins and stays really well!

Hair tutorial that replaces the “mom bun”
Step 1 – Part your hair where it feel most natural for you and pull all your hair to one side. (I personally did a right part and pulled left to create balance and interest).
Step 2 – Twist hair up and over (forward towards your face) and jiggle it just a little to make sure it’s not too tight. If the hair is too tight, it’s more likely to fall because it’s too rigid and doesn’t allow flexibility.
Step 3 – Pull the twist up over your head and make a loop in the middle of your hair, tucking the bottom half back into the twist. You will want to pin the top loop at the top-back of your head. Somewhere that’s out of the way, but looks normal.
Step 4 – Use two bobby pins (extra long ones are sturdiest for long hair) to pin underneath the top turn. I pin in a “V” pattern to add strength to that pivot point in the hair. You can also use regular bobby pins and put the crimped side flat on your head.
Step 5 – Fix any fly aways in your already complete hair bun alternative. And you are done and ready to conquer your summer day!

Cute! Hope the humidity isn’t killing you here in Mass 🙂
Thanks! It’s actually not bad. The heat and humidity in Oklahoma is much worse. However, air conditioning is king there. We need to install our window units soon here.
