Pumpkin Snowflake Tutorial and art project for fall
Sometimes the simplest ideas make great projects and the classics with a new spin can be so exciting! To usher in harvest season, autumn, and falling leaves we decided to make a cute pumpkin snowflake craft.
For my first-born’s first birthday, I did doing a grow theme and also tried to be as eco-friendly as possible. This means are not buying decorations, rather making them. That’s where the idea came from and when we first utilized this unique twist on an old classic.

Step-by-step Picture tutorial of our pumpkin craft party decor
To make a paper snowflake pumpkin craft in the shape of a pumpkin, start with a perfect square or origami paper and then cut your piece of paper with scissors to look kind of like the shape of a peanut.
- Fold your peanut in half.
- Take both sides of the folded paper with the crease at the bottom and fold them in like a cone.
- Add another single fold to make a small triangle. (Great time to talk about angles and isosceles triangles!)
- If you want it to be more exact with your cuts, put some of those pumpkin ridges and creases in it.
- Then the fun begins! Add intricate designs or just start cutting shapes and notches throughout the folded areas and then unfold for a beautiful pumpkin “snowflake”.
- Use a hole punch near the top to hang and display from the ceiling or tape to a wall or window.

This is a great addition to your fall activities and art projects to do with kids of all ages and in the classroom. Plus it is an easy alternative to jack-o-lanterns, ghosts, and Halloween decor for families that do not celebrate Halloween. We personally only enjoy the fall season for its beauty and harvest which is one of the reasons we love this simple paper snowflake project instead.
