I am beyond thrilled to introduce to you my new book, Adventures of Dot: An Early Geometry Book. This book is so simple, yet has so much to offer for kids young and old in terms of shapes, counting, early math, and basic geometry concepts. So let me give you a brief breakdown of the book…

As an overview, it’s just a very simple book that introduces basic and proper geometric terminology to young readers. While it is very easy to understand and straight forward with little wording, there are subtle aspects of the book that can open up more discussion about shapes, how they are made, how we perceive them, and where they show up in our daily lives.
I have even included some extended options at the end of the book to get your kids talking and thinking.
Because of both the simplicity and complexity of the book, the age-appropriateness of the book can span from tot school and preschool all the way to introducing geometry in middle and high school (though the end might be a little corny 😉 ). In all, I hope you enjoy it!
The book, Adventures of Dot: An Early Geometry Book , introduces “Dot” and watches him grow. As he grows, kids can learn to count with him up to ten as he morphs into different geometric shapes.
Learning Basic Shapes & Geometry
As you read and count with dot, kid are exposed to basic shapes and how many sides each shape has while also being exposed to proper geometric terminology at a young age. So while younger kids can appreciate knowing some shapes and counting, older kids can reinforce their geometric knowledge.
Practical Application of Shapes and Geometry in Real Life
In the end of the book there is a small trivia section to challenge both children and maybe even their parents and teachers to think a little deeper about shapes, how they are made, and how we perceive them.
Also, be on the look out through the book and notice where some of the illustrations demonstrate where a particular shape can be found in the world around us.
