Learning by Theme Resources for Preschool & Tot School
I admit it, I love organization. However, I also admit that since becoming a parent, my days are chaotic, my house is a mess, and I am just not organized. In the end, this means that for tot school to be successful for our family, we approach learning by theme. Not only does it help keep me accountable, it also means that my child is exposed to a wide vocabulary and a vast array of activities. Sometimes though, inspiration can be hard to find. therefore, I have collected some great resources to help guide you in your journey to have unit studies in your tot school and preschool settings.
My main section in the new tot school book Every Parent Can Teach their Toddler (other than the introduction) is all about Learning by Theme and why it is a viable and excellent option for teaching and engaging your toddler. A brief overview is that learning by theme ensures that you are rotating toys, introducing vocabulary, and forming better memories by having a pattern of learning.
So if you are working to start planning even a very loose structure to teach your toddler, themes are a great jumping off point to help get your mind rolling with ideas. If you need a planner and/or weekly schedule, be sure to find our free download on our weekly learning theme resource page.
Below you will find pages from tons of bloggers who have tot-schooled and are still tot-schooling their children! The first section contains links of landing pages where lots of themes are showcased together. After that, you will find some common themes and what those bloggers have done to teach their children in that particular theme. ENJOY!
