The Stamp Act Congress
The British Parliament just passed the Stamp Act, requiring colonists to pay a tax on almost every piece of printed paper they use. Colonial delegates are meeting to decide how to respond. The power Parliament claimed over the colonies was unlike anything colonists had faced before.
The newspaper printed a mock death notice rather than pay the stamp tax.
