Autumn halloween crafts with kids

Easy non-scary fall Halloween crafts for toddlers

I adore fall. And with my oldest child’s birthday near Halloween, it’s always like a huge party for her and for our family.

But instead of scary-looking decorations and crafts, we have always opted for friendly and cute creations that our kids can help make and that we can enjoy creating together as a family.

Simply Fall & Halloween crafts for young kids.

If you have little kids in the house, you will want to avoid scary Halloween decorations and crafts. That doesn’t mean your home has to go without decorations. Making custom decorations and crafts with your kids that are super cute are just a fun way to spend time together enjoying the season.

Make a leaf collage

Go out on a nature hike and collect a variety of leaves in gorgeous colors and multiple shapes and sizes. Let your children create with them whether it’s a collage or they make leaf shapes like in the book, Leaf Man.

Homemade Halloween Coloring/Activity Books

Do your kids love to color? You can find literally thousands of free coloring and activity pages to print for free. Find several pages your kids will love working on and print them out. Your kids can work on this fun craft whenever you need a free minute. You can then hang the completed coloring pages around the home as a decoration.

Painted Pumpkins

Don’t let your kids miss out on the fun of a decorative pumpkin. Instead of carving the pumpkin, let your kids paint the pumpkin. You can find glow-in-the-dark paint at the Dollar Tree. This allows your kids to have a glowing pumpkin without all the work and danger of carving it. This is such a fun craft and uncarved pumpkins last much longer.

Construction Paper Garland Cutouts

For this craft, all you need is orange, black, purple, and green construction paper, scissors, markers, a hole punch, and fishing twine. Allow your kids to cut out Halloween shapes (even if you have to draw them first) and then decorate with the markers. You can then punch a holes in the tops, tie on the fishing twine, and hang around your home.

Pumpkin “snowflakes”

Just like you would fold up paper and make paper snowflakes for Christmas and winter, kids can easily turn this pumpkin snowflake tutorial into hours of fun creating and decorating the house with unique pumpkin designs.
