Why Do I need Carrier oils and other essential oil supplies?
Carrier oils are important because 99% of the time, essential oils should and need to be diluted before use. So whether it’s for a quick natural remedy or you are looking to make your own soap, deodorant, or other personal care product, carrier oils are a must have.
You will notice in the list that most of the bottles are amber-colored. This is because the color of the glass helps protect the oils so that they maintain their integrity. Therefore, not just any bottle os the perfect choice.
Depending upon your intentions, you will want to have a few different carriers to choose from. You will want to have at least one liquid form and one solid form carrier oil. Our favorites are listed below.
What Essential oil supplies should I keep on hand?
Glass Roll-On Bottles – These are fabulous to have on hand when making your own roll-on oil varieties. Whether you are mixing your own blends or just wanting to share with a friend, these are great to have. You can whip up a recipe that can help alleviate aches and pains or even make your own perfume and put in a roll-on bottle and viola, you have easy application. Even better, get some with metal ball applicators.
Large Amber Spray Bottle – The large spray bottle is something that can be used to keep homemade cleaner in for the kitchen and bathroom, but also for beauty supplies like homemade hairspray and they’re even great for homemade “fabreeze” type products.
A Large Nail Polish Rack – This is such a fun and easy way to display and organize your oils. You can even put labels and stickers where each one should go so if someone else is utilizing them and you want to keep your organization and keep them easy to find.
Travel-Size Amber Spray Bottles – Take your cleaning spray with you on the go or even make your own spray hand sanitizer. You can get an assortment of sizes including the TSA recommendation of 2 ounces or less.
Assorted sizes of Amber dropper bottles – Our favorite size is the one ounce because it seems to last quite awhile and it’s a great size for both home and travel.
Stainless Steel Mini Funnels – These tiny little funnels make transferring oils into other bottles so much easier. Whether you are splitting oils to give some to friends or making a recipe, these make life easier.
Epsom Salt – Oil and water don’t mix, so we always have some salt on hand to put our oils in to then put in the bath or washing machine, allowing the oil to disperse in the water.
Sweet Almond Carrier oil – This is my favorite vitamin E oil variety. It’s a great liquid oil that has a smooth finish. We use this carrier oil for things like diaper rash ointments, scar solutions, and more.
Raw Shea Butter – This is a great solid carrier. It can be used to make homemade lotions and soaps.
Unrefined Coconut Oil – Coconut oil is kind of the cross between a liquid and a solid carrier. It is a solid that turns to liquid very easily. We use coconut oil for almost everything in our home. Our favorite unrefined coconut oil is by Tropical Traditions.
