Ok, so this is my inaugural post! I will still be blogging at my parent website (www.allternativeliving.com). But, because we have decided to homeschool and this is a slightly different topic, I decided to make a sister website. I hope that my followers enjoy this as well and that we can build a whole new community! Please bear with me though, I am still setting up social media and the like.
This is the learning strategy we have decided to use for teaching our children, especially in the younger years. It basically is a very hands-on approach where the environment is controlled and learning is through play. How better to explore and discover as a child than through play?!
For instance, a child learns about the relationship of big and little by building with blocks. A teacher does not have to teach a child to put the big one on bottom, rather the child learns it through trial and error while playing.
In fact, I plan on trying to get my master’s certificate or some training in Montessori. Since I am already a teacher, this is a natural extension for me and one that I believe will be great for our family. If possible, I am even going to try to win the classes online! There is a 12 month certificate course through kht going on now! Check it out here: http://livingmontessorinow.com/2013/04/17/giveaway-kht-montessori-online-course-and-12-albums#comment-52907
I am very excited about these opportunities and look forward to continuing to implement them into even baby learning right now.
